Alfa Romeo 156 Spare Parts (Type 932, 1997 to 2007)

With the Alfa Romeo 156, the brand scored a major hit in 1997. Designed under the leadership of Walter de Silva at Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, the saloon combined sporting style with a distinct character and won the European Car of the Year title in 1998, the first Alfa Romeo victory in this category in twenty five years. Between 1997 and 2007 around 680,000 examples were built as saloon, Sportwagon estate and Crosswagon Q4 crossover at the Pomigliano d'Arco plant and, for a time, at the Rayong plant in Thailand. Our range covers original spare parts and carefully selected reproductions for all body styles and engine options, including the 156 GTA flagship.

The History of the Alfa Romeo 156

Development of the Type 932 started in 1993. Among three proposals from Pininfarina, Italdesign and Centro Stile, the design by Walter de Silva won, inspired by the Nuvola concept car and featuring rounded lines, sculpted fenders, classic chrome door handles at the front and rear door handles integrated into the C pillar. The saloon made its debut at the IAA Frankfurt in September 1997. In 2000 the practical Sportwagon estate joined the range, followed in 2001 by the GTA as sporting flagship. In 2003 the 156 received an extensive facelift by Giorgetto Giugiaro with a larger Scudetto and revised headlights. From October 2004 the Crosswagon Q4 added a six and a half centimetre raised crossover variant with all wheel drive. Saloon production ended in late 2005, while the Crosswagon Q4 continued until mid 2007.

Body Variants and Technology

The 156 was based on the platform of the Fiat Bravo, Brava and Marea but with significant modifications such as double wishbone front suspension and the Camuffo rear axle adopted from Lancia. The result was a chassis with unusually precise steering and a sporting character that kept the class competition from Germany in check in numerous comparison tests. The car was available as four door saloon, five door Sportwagon estate and Crosswagon Q4 with all wheel drive and raised ground clearance.

Alfa Romeo 156 GTA as Flagship

In summer 2001 Alfa Romeo presented the 156 GTA. Its Busso V6 with 3,179 cc produced 184 kW or 250 hp at 6,200 rpm and 300 Nm of torque. Customers could choose between a six speed manual gearbox or the improved Selespeed automated manual. Unlike the facelift models, the GTA retained the original small Scudetto. Blacked out headlight reflectors, a wider track and additional body spoilers visually distinguished the GTA from the standard variants. A total of around 2,973 saloons and 1,678 Sportwagon GTA versions were built.
