GT/V/6 (116)
Alfa Romeo GTV 4 and GTV 6 Spare Parts (116 Series, from 1980)
With the major facelift in autumn 1980 the two door sports coupé of the 116 series lost its Alfetta prefix and was from then on marketed simply as Alfa Romeo GTV. The revised models received new bumpers, spoilers and side trim panels in plastic together with a completely redesigned dashboard. Alongside the proven four cylinder GTV 2.0, Alfa Romeo introduced for the first time a V6 in the series with the GTV 6. Our range covers original spare parts and carefully selected reproductions for both engine variants.
The GTV 4 with the Two Litre Four Cylinder
The GTV 2.0, often called GTV 4 in Alfista circles, was built from 1980 to 1985 with the 1962 cc Twin Cam four cylinder that delivered 130 hp after the facelift revisions. The model was positioned as an affordable alternative to the more sophisticated V6 and combined the balanced transaxle layout of the 116 series with an agile four cylinder drivetrain.
The GTV 6 with the Busso V6
The flagship GTV 6 2.5 was built from 1980 to 1986. Its 2492 cc V6 was designed by Giuseppe Busso and produced 158 hp or 116 kW in the road version. The six cylinder was praised as a sonic wonder even back then and ranks among the most elegant V6 designs of its era. The most striking visual feature of the GTV 6 is the voluminous power dome on the bonnet that accommodates the taller six cylinder engine.
Transaxle Layout and De Dion Axle
Both GTV 4 and GTV 6 used the classic transaxle drivetrain. The engine sat at the front, the five speed gearbox together with the differential at the rear axle. The result was a nearly balanced weight distribution of around 50 to 50. The rear De Dion axle with Watt linkage provided outstanding handling and ranked among the best sports car technology of its time.
GTV 6 in the European Touring Car Championship
In motorsport the GTV 6 wrote history. Between 1982 and 1985 the car won the European Touring Car Championship four times in a row. The GTV 6 thus ranks among the most successful Alfa Romeo touring cars in the entire brand history.
